Abstract

Flow2Seis is a Petrel plug-in that provides a fast and automated connection between reservoir models and 4D seismic data. Its purpose is to generate synthetic seismic images from hundreds of simulated three-dimensional reservoir models and compare them with observed seismic surveys. The software performs a sequence of integrated steps:

i) petroelastic modeling, to compute the elastic attributes of the reservoir; (ii) seismic modeling, to calculate synthetic amplitudes with and without noise; (iii) generation of 4D seismic maps and volumes for impedance and amplitude attributes; and (iv) quantitative comparison between synthetic and acquired seismic data.

This workflow enables users to assess the reliability of numerical models, reduce uncertainties, and support dynamic reservoir monitoring. Being fully integrated within the Petrel environment, the plug-in offers a user-friendly interface, consistent workflows, and large-scale analysis capabilities, which are essential for effective field management and informed decision-making.
